BMT and the Hollidays

Well, in the weeks I’ve been back in Billings, I’ve had some good times. It’s been good to see the family and friends here. I hope to see a few more in the next week before I have to head back to Butte and get ready for classes.

This will be my last semester in college and it should be a great one. Not only with classes but also my part-time job prospect and the three competitions I have. Of course I have the BPA state, and most likely the national as well (This year in Dallas) and this year, I’m also participating in a network security competition that is an invitational in South Dakota.

I was looking for plane tickets for the South Dakota trip from Butte… approx. 440 with taxes for just the plane ride round trip, a total of 6 hours traveling time and we go from Butte to Salt Lake City to Minneapolis to Sioux Falls. This spring should be fun.

Now I just need to find a job for when I graduate.

Security on the Web and Phone

With recent news of Phorm and the new act passed into law recently, I fear for my privacy. I would much rather do all communications through an encrypted channel. I do not need someone watching what I say and what I do for any reason. I try to use PGP/GPG (http://gnupg.org/ windows: http://gpg4win.org/) and something like firegpg to easily encrpyt emails through gmail (http://getfiregpg.org/). I will be looking for something in the next few days to try and encrypt phone conversations.
